About Me
Hi, I'm Alyssa! I am an oboist based in Lincoln, NE. I actively teach both piano and oboe students in my private studio and I also freelance in and around Nebraska. I am the adjunct professor of oboe at Nebraska Wesleyan University and Concordia University, Nebraska, as well as the oboist of Trio Ventorum. I also frequently perform with the Lincoln Symphony, Sioux City Symphony, and Sioux Falls Symphony.
I received my Master’s degree in Oboe Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music in 2021, where I studied with Richard Killmer. There, I was active as a performer with the Eastman Harmonie octet, the Wind Ensemble, Philharmonia, and many chamber ensembles. I also studied the Baroque oboe with Geoffrey Burgess, and I was awarded a Graduate Assistantship to serve as the Department Assistant for the oboe studio. I played an active role in student life as an officer for the Graduate Student’s Association and as a Program Assistant in the Office of Student Affairs.
In 2019, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I studied with Dr. William McMullen. At UNL, I performed with the Wesley Reist Woodwind Quintet, Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, and university concert and chamber ensembles. I was named the Glenn Korff Distinguished Undergraduate Artist/Scholar for the 2018-2019 school year, which featured a performance at the UNL Glenn Korff Day celebration and a scholarship. I also collaborated with pop singer Hannah Huston on her 2018 Christmas album, Believe in Christmas.
I attended the Rocky Ridge summer music camp in 2017 and the John Mack Oboe Camp in 2018, and studied in Berlin, Germany with Dina Heidinger in the summer of 2016. I was awarded runner-up in the 2017 UNL undergraduate concerto competition and runner-up at the 2018 regional MTNA woodwind competition, after winning the state division. In my senior year of high school, I was invited to perform at the Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.
In my free time I enjoy baking, playing games, and spending time with friends and family.
